What do you need to do to find the right person? It’s the question on every thirty-something singleton’s lips. Well, according to some experts, the answer may be in your dreams. So, it’s time to locate your pillow and duvet and get dreaming.
What is Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is when you become conscious enough to realise you’re dreaming. It’s basically the bridge between deep sleep and consciousness. If you have ever experienced a dream, you will know that, often they don’t seem dreamlike at all; in fact, they often seem very real.
It’s Time to Be in Control
When you begin lucid dreaming, you are actually able to control what you are dreaming about. It sounds odd, doesn’t it? We seem to believe that our dreams are spontaneous and decided by another power. However, it turns out that we were in control all along. Many experts agree that lucid dreaming is the best way to find your soul, which is usually hidden by layers of your unconscious self. You see, the thing with life is that, many of us build up a hard shell to protect ourselves from heartbreak and despair. Lucid dreaming allows you to find who you truly are again; it allows you to discover the person you were before the world hardened you.
For those of you, who, like me, rarely remember dreams, it is possible to train your mind. Leading experts agree that the easiest and most effective way to do this is to draw a capital ‘D’ on the back of your hand. Every time you see the ‘D’ you should say to yourself “Am I awake or am I dreaming?” Experts say that you should do this every time you see the ‘D’ and actually think about the answer carefully. Obviously, most of the time you will be doing ordinary things, such as brushing your hair. However, research has shown that, after a few days of constantly seeing the ‘D’ you begin to see the ‘D’ in your dreams. By then, you will be so used to the question of “Am I awake or am I dreaming?” and you’ll finally be able to say yes. By saying yes, you are opening the door to another world. It’s really quite simple, isn’t it?
Put Your Hands in the Air
Experts also say that the ‘arm up’ method is also highly effective at getting your mind in the lucid state. Now, I know that you’re currently wondering what exactly ‘arm up’ means so, I’ll explain. Basically, when you are feeling sleepy, you should keep your arm in the air for as long as you possibly can. This reminds your brain that you don’t want to be entirely unconscious because you want to keep part of your mind awake. The effort of keeping your arm in the air for a prolonged period of time is unbearable but, experts agree that it will usually enable you to stay awake enough to experience a lucid dream.
Let It Go
The thing with lucid dreaming is that, whilst it is possible to control when you go into a dream state, it is not possible to control what you dream about. Lucid dreaming frees the mind of all physical, emotional and mental entanglements so that you can be who you truly are once more. The dream world isn’t like the normal world, where everything seems to be painted in grey; in dream world, there are limitless possibilities for the dreamer to explore. Whatever problems you are currently facing during your waking hours will disappear during your dreams. What is there to be sceptical about?
It’s Time to Pop the Question
When you have at last mastered your dreams, it is time to ask yourself the question which every singleton wants answered; “Where will I find love?” Once you have asked yourself, you will see what happens. You can ask your dream self what your soul mate will look like, quiz yourself on what action you need to take or what you need to change about yourself in order to meet this person. You will be surprised at the answers; after all, sometimes your dreams know you better that you do. The problem with dreams is that your imagination is ever-changing so, you may get swept along in the thrill of a fast-paced, adventurous dream. However, if this does happen, make sure you stay calm and focused and remember the questions which you want answered.
If you happen to be one of those lucky people who wakes up directly after your lucid dream, you will probably remember it extremely clearly. Fortunately, you will not have to try to rack your brains in order to figure out what the dream was about. You should write down your dream as soon as you wake up in case you do forget and then you can dwell on it. Did your dream answer your question? Do you have any more questions? Did you see anyone you know or recognise in the dream? Feel free to write down anything that seems significant; you’d be surprised at how important dreams are when it comes to finding out about yourself.
Pick It Apart
If you, like a lot of people, slipped back into unconsciousness after your dream, you may find that it is harder for you to remember your dream. However, if you know that you were lucid for part of your dream, you should be able to recover fragments of the dream. If you remember anything at all from your dream, it is important that you write it down. Record any bits and pieces to prevent them being lost and forgotten forever. Write down any smells, images, sounds, messages or feelings which you felt during your dream. Try to tease out enough fragments of your dream to link it to other parts of the dream. It sounds hard but, trust me, it isn’t. Ask yourself the same questions you asked yourself in your dream and try to trigger any memories. It will work, trust me.
Every time you go to sleep, you should try to immerse yourself in the spiritual waters of a lucid dream. Whilst you should continue your life as normal, ensure that you save enough time for lucid dreams each night. It’s not something which you can do too much and, the more time you spend mastering the art of lucid dreaming, the more you can get to know yourself. So, go ahead and ask yourself questions; you never know what you might find.
